YOUNG FILM CRITIC WINS TOP HONOR

April 20, 2010 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) -- 11-year old film critic/entertainment reporter Jackson Murphy captured his first Emmy Award Sunday night at the 53rd Annual NY Emmys, held in front of a record black-tie crowd of over 800 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

Jackson won his Emmy in the category - On Camera Talent: Commentator/Editorialist for his "Lights-Camera-Jackson" movie review segment seen each week on YNN, Time Warner's 24 hour news stations throughout New York State.

In his acceptance speech, LCJ thanked the NY Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, his parents and family, his colleagues at YNN, his teachers, past and present, and the two people who inspired him to become a film critic and TV personality: Roger Ebert and Regis Philbin.

Jackson's speech received the only standing ovation of the night and he is now the youngest person to win a NY Emmy in the 53 years of this prestigious award.

"I'm stunned and thrilled", the young critic said, "It was a great night and winning made it even better."

Jackson was a double-nominee this year, his first time taking part in the NY Emmys. He was also nominated in the category of Entertainment Program.

"Lights-Camera-Jackson" can been seen weekly throughout upstate New York and Western New England on YNN-Albany (Capital Region), YNN-Syracuse, (Syracuse, Watertown and Binghamton) and YNN Dutchess County.

Lights-Camera-Jackson

"Lights Camera Jackson" has been a "Kid Critic" longer than he's been a kid, having attended his first movie (Disney's "Mulan") a month before he was born. He kicked his mother at the funny parts. "LCJ" began seeing films in the theater at age 5, starting with such classics as "Finding Nemo" and "The Lizzie McGuire Movie." Going to the movies quickly became his passion. He began his career as a professional movie critic in January 2006, at the age of 7 1/2. His weekly reviews air on a local radio station in his hometown. When he's not watching and reviewing movies "Lights Camera Jackson" attends school, enjoys reading, playing soccer and tennis and watching TV. And he collects, among other things, autographed photos of celebrities. His collection includes movie critics Leonard Maltin and Richard Roper (Roger Ebert coming soon).
