Terra-Petra is Recognized as an Industry Leader in Vapor Intrusion
Earning continuing education credits at remediation university
Los Angeles, CA -- May 02, 2011 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) -- Terra-Petra, an environmental engineering company based in Los Angeles, was invited by CETCO to present at their semi-annual Remediation University: A Focus on Vapor Intrusion seminar on April 28th. The seminar was held in Santa Ana, CA and featured seven speakers involved in different aspects of the vapor intrusion industry. The presentations covered all aspects of Vapor Intrusion with topics on code requirements ("What to expect in the November 2012 EPA Update"), design concerns ("Designing Efficient Sub Slab Venting and Vapor Barrier Systems") and construction considerations ("Construction Considerations for Gas Vapor Barrier Mitigation Systems"). Terra-Petra's own P.E. John Conaway presented a case hitory on the methane/waterproofing design and inspections Terra-Petra managed for Cedars Sinai Medical Center's new Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion in Los Angeles, CA.
Terra-Petra says it will continue to make the effort to align with other companies and education providers to derive a complete understanding about the types of vapor intrusion issues that all Americans must deal with on a daily basis.
For close to a decade, Terra-Petra has worked closely with many firms from other engineering firms on various designs to membrane sub-contractors (CQA/CQC activities).
Some of Terra-Petra's acclaimed accomplishments include:
• Design and implementation of a methane barrier membrane, passive and active mechanical ventilation, hardscape venting, electronic gas detection inside the structure with data logging capabilities, alarm system, and subslab vaults for periodic monitoring.
• Design of a unique options to vent 55 oil wells that were spread throughout a 25-acre residential development site.
• Design of a sub-slab soil gas vapor mitigation system for a private high school.
• Specification of an alternate approved membrane system that reduced installation time by approximately 50% for a luxury hotel.
• Design of a code compliant methane-venting matrix for a very complex substructure.
Dealing with methane gas and volatile compounds is serious business-requiring the most dedicated and experienced professionals. Terra-Petra provides services throughout California and the states of Michigan, Texas and New Jersey as well as the major metro areas of Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Miami.
