About And the Whippoorwill Sang
The story opens with one young member of a large family fighting for life in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, as the rest of the family is left to face the challenge of coping with the inconceivable death of that child. The distraught mother takes her mind back to the past years of laughter, joy, and comical escapades in an effort to block the frightening present. She narrates comical episodes while raising six kids, taking trips in a beat-up camper built for two, and hair-raising tales of their haunted old farmhouse. When her past musings merge with the reality of the present, the family takes another journey--this time to the other side of sorrow--as they learn… to weep… to laugh… to grieve… to dance--and finally to forgive the drunk driver who stole a part of their lives.
